Hello to all this glorious day! March is normally a windy month and it should remind us of just how important the wind really is For something that cannot be seen nor controlled by man, the wind is one of the the greatest blessings God has granted His created world. Without the winds, this earth would literally burn up. Rain also cannot be manufactured by man, but when moisture is drawn up from the ocean surface by the wind and then carried across the continents by weather fronts pushed by winds and then deposited in droplets called rain, the earth and creatures rejoice and are revived.

God not only created all things, He also sustains His creation and He does it by the wind. Jesus described the new birth to Nicodemus by a wind analogy.

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.John 3:8
A believer is a new creation of grace and the same God that saves also sustains. The indwelling Holy Spirit pushes and prompts us to do right and to hate wrong. He comforts us when we hurt, helps us when we're hobbling, and convicts us when we sin. he is a miraculous wind machine whom we cannot see but is awesome in influence, making the biggest difference in our lives, especially when we face trials and temptations. Just as the winds of nature lift the pollen to propagate growth, so the Holy Spirit strengthens and enables us with His unseen hand, yet powerful influence, to produce spiritual fruit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
God sure does much more which we cannot see than He does what we can see and the wind is a marvelous metaphor to remind us of that blessedness. Every Sunday morning and evening at SPBC and so many other wonderful churches, there is a "gathering in the wind" so to speak. People come to church and worship God not only to get out of the harsh winds of want and worry, but also to get into the comforting wind of grace. I am thankful for you all, whether you are sitting in the pews or joining us on the internet, because I know by your presence that the wind is blowing and your love for the Lord is a sure evidence that His grace is carrying you in the right direction. No matter which direction the wind is coming from, it is a testimony of God's great, amazing love. God's love is like a weather vane in that no matter whether it's pointing North, South, East or West, it points that way because it is influenced by the love of God. Let's make it a point of priority not only for the month of March, but also for all the rest of the months this year to get into the wind.

The best way to get into the wind is to get into the Word.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.John 1:14
Jesus Christ is the Word, the one and only true living Word! No doubt then, the Word has to be a key of the King of Kings' very own kingdom on Earth. The Word is how Almighty God communicates to sinners like us. His Word is informative, instructive, collective and comforting. God, through His Holy Word, tells us all He wants us to know about who He is, what He has done for us, what He wants us to do for him, how to treat one another, as well as a glimpse of what Heaven is like.

Jesus Christ is the living Word of God. This is why the more we stay in and study the Word, the more like Jesus we will be. God writes His Word is our hearts when we are regenerated and this eternally alive seed grows faith, which enables us to trust our Heavenly Father even when we can't see Him or understand what He is doing. Even though God's thoughts and ways are far above our own thoughts and ways, God does let us in on some of His sanctifying secrets. If I presented this newsletter to you with only a heading and my signature in the closing, you would have no idea of what I wanted to say or what I was thinking. Well, when Jesus Christ came to Earth as the incarnate God, He showed us what God was thinking. When the Word was made flesh, it meant that the Word would hang and suffer and die on the cross. The Word made flesh would shed righteous blood to redeem unrighteous sinners. Yes, the Word made flesh shows us what God is like and what God doesn't like -- sin! But most of all, the Word made flesh reveals just how much God loves His people.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

The Word is Sharp!

The truth is freeing, but the truth is also painful at times. The word of God comforts the afflicted, but it also afflicts the comfortable. The word is described as a sword in the Bible, and the sword of the Spirit is the most important weapon needed to fend off the devil and to do good works. This sword is the only offensive weapon described in the Christian's wardrobe of armory warfare items. We literally need to keep our swords drawn at all times. The devil and his demons hate truth and their three most tested words are, "It is written."

Not only do we need to keep our swords of the word drawn, we also need to make sure our swords are sharp. The Holy Spirit is the best Word sharpener and without His help, the Word gets dull very quickly. The letter of the Word is blunt and builds up plaque caused by doubt, unbelief, and personal opinion. But when we hold the Word tight and put it in the right place, it is sharp enough to remove stuff that can cause decay in our heart and minds. The next time you floss your teeth, think of the Word. The brushing is easier and more pleasant than the flossing, but the flossing is more needful.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

The Word Is Speaking

the Bible is a talking book. Jesus was both admired and hated because of what He talked about. "No man spake like this man" they said! Even though some could not figure out who He was, they knew nobody spoke like Him and could say it with such authority.

The Christian is never alone and should never complain that he or she has no one to talk to. Jesus, the Word, is talking all the time. When we pray, we talk to God. When we read the Word, God talks to us. Actually, God is talking to us whether we read the Word or not. The Word is living and gives us life and breath. It is also the bread of life which strengthens and sustains us in this world of sin, sorrow and sickness.

The Word is more than the written part. The over eight hundred thousand words God inspired men to write speak volumes of His grace and mercy, but the unwritten words of God wield power and peace to us which simply cannot be put into words. All of this universe was created by God speaking the Word. And besides that, the Lord Jesus Christ is interceding for us right now in Heaven saying things to God we'd like to say but have not the knowledge or ability to do. The Holy Spirit surely has something to say about everything as He is our guide and comforting counselor.

Do not get upset just because somebody doesn't speak to you in this world. The one who loves you the most will always provide a comforting conversation. The world does talk a lot but has very little to say. Some people are like that too. It's always best to let the person who knows the most do the most talking. Since the Word is speaking, we ought to be listening.

When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. Proverbs 6:22

The Word Is Sovereign

The Word is sovereign not because it's written in a book or on an app in your cell phone. The Word is sovereign because the Word is God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
What God says goes and what comes or goes has to come by God first. God means what He says and God says what He means. When he says He forgives us, He means it! And when He says to keep His commandments, He means it. God's commandments are not to be taken as a multiple choice answer option to pass our continuing education class test.

The sovereignty of the Word is most comforting especially in our culture where fickleness, fairness and flirting is so prevailing. The Supreme Court is really not supreme; the Word of God is though. Much confusion can be eliminated by acknowledging the sovereignty of the Word. "God say it, I believe it, that settles it" will keep us on the right road and enable us to travel through the mine fields of an explosive world view.

The Word is not going anywhere and is not going away empty either. The following is a portion of "The Undiminished Word" written by Brother Wade McElveen:

Our God, in grace, reveals Himself;
The gracious sovereign Lord,
Whose Spirit moved good men to write
The undiminished Word.

The church stands on unchanging Truth,
No changes can afford;
It must be preached for all its worth --
The undiminished Word.

God magnified above His name,
This precious truth adored.
And in its pages, Christ is found --
The Undiminished Word.

If your life is locked in hopeless, lostness and every door seems shut, maybe the Word is just the key that you need to open these doors. have you tried this key?
